A man's rules - Part 2

- Anything we said 6 months ago is inadmissible in an argument. In fact, all comments become null and void after 7 days.
- If you think you're fat, you probably are. Don't ask us.
- If something we said can be interpreted two ways, and one of the ways makes you sad or angry, we meant the other one.
- You can either ask us to do something or tell us how you want it done. Not both. If you already know best how to do it, just do it yourself.
- Christopher Columbus did not need directions and neither do we.
- If we ask what is wrong and you say "nothing", we will act like nothing's wrong. We know you are lying, but it is just not worth the hassle.
- If you ask a question you don't want an answer to, expect an answer you don't want to hear.
- You have enough clothes.
- You have too many shoes.

A man's rules - Part 1

We always hear 'the rules' from the female side. Now here are the rules from the male side.

- Breasts are for looking at and that is why we do it. Don't try to change that.
- Learn to work the toilet seat. You're a big girl. If it's up, put it down. We need it up, you need it down. You don't hear us complaining about you leaving it down.
- Saturday = sports. It's like the full moon or the changing of the tides. Let it be.
- Shopping is NOT a sport. And no, we are never going to think of it that way.
- Crying is blackmail.
- Ask for what you want. Subtle hints do not work! Obvious hints do not work. JUST SAY IT!
- Come to us with a problem only if you want help solving it. That's what we do. Sympathy is what your girlfriends are for.
- A headache that lasts for 17 months is a problem. See a doctor

Cooker arrived at Soundstore!

It took them longer than expected, but Soundstore has received their new stock of Hotpoint cookers, so we can take delivery of the one we ordered! With all the exams coming up next week, we'll take delivery on May 10th, so expect a housewarming invitation soon after that! I'll do the lasagne and the garlic bread. Who can do the cocktail sausages?

Dot Com is back! In CORK!

This was the scene I witnessed last night going home; A scene that I would consider 'normal' for any Silicon Valley car park during the Dot Com days. I was quite surprised to see that those days are back, in Eastgate Business Park, Cork!

So, we have been claiming to be the real capitol, are we now also behaving like it?

Koninginnedag!

It's hard to beat the scenes below, but we're gonna have a good time anyway! The Dutch Society in Ireland are organising 'Koninginnedag' celebrations on Saturday in the Silversprings Hotel; That's gonna be some mad night with all those other Dutchies from Apple, Siemens and what other call centers around. It will be mad. Oranje boven!

"Who was the lucky one"

Well, it's Deadlydee!

While driving home last night she texted Red FM to win some tickets for the Paddy Casey gig in July; And yep, she had to go on the air and she won them!! Woo-hoo!! Just a bummer that we'll be on top of the Canadian Rockies when the gig is actually on, but hey, ye can't have it all! So yeah, 'who was the lucky one' .. well, it's Dee.. but can't do nothing with it.. better get a Lotto ticket tomorrow as the luck is on her side!

Nice and quiet

Didn't do that much now this weekend; The usual groceries at Lidl in Midleton on Friday evening followed by a BigMac Meal next door (couldn't resist) and some red wine at home. Saturday was a day for studying for Dee! I collected my bicycle in town and cycled back home; Didn't need a new rear wheel in the end; They replaced two spokes so that cost me 7 instead of 30EUR; That's easy budgetting! Went to Sophie's there on Saturday evening to fix her computer; just a tip: don't install MS AntiSpyware on a Windows XP SR1 machine! Especially if it's a Packard Bell! Will be going back there tonight now for a full re-install! Dee's parents called up on Sunday as they wanted to take the old brown chairs we got from our landlord's in Montenotte; We've got so much space again, it's great! We took them to Mahonpoint and went for a walk along the river in Passage West itself; it was such a beautiful day! Will this be the initiator for a long, warm summer?

Tesco - Every little helps. NOT!

We were unpleasantly surprised with Tesco's recent price increases, but when Dee went to Aldi yesterday in Midleton, we got the proof; Tesco is a rip-off!. We compared the shopping bills last night and there was a difference of 40cents on just a stupid head of iceberg lettuce! As 'every little helps' is Tesco's slogans; it so has become ours.. 'every little helps' to get the cooker, a new couch and some travels far and and away!

New rear wheel needed

I just got back from town; had to do some testing of a competitor's product for benchmarking purposes, so surely I went into town and brought my bicycle to the shop. A new rear wheel is required, another EUR 30 gone. What can you do? At least it gives me back my independance and with the weather the way it is, it would be great to have the bicycle back again!

No further scandal; leaving the office shortly to go to the gym; Maybe ITV broadcasts Chelsea vs Arsenal tonight; If else, it will be another episode of Sex and the City on DVD.

Thank you

Guys & Girls, you've been fantastic company! It was great having you over; see you in three weeks!

Forgot!

Oh yeah, forgot about that; we got a Hotpoint cooker in the sale at Soundstore on Sunday; 200 EUR below budget, so I got ourselves two tickets for Brendan Grace in the Opera House for that; ye might as well; It's just after Dee's exams, so a good time to have a laugh and forget about all the exam pressures.

But anyway, this cooker should arrive in 14 days or so, so after that we can take orders for dinners at Pembroke Wood. (Not to worry, I don't serve rubarb and Brussels sprouts!).

Brilliant weekend!

Just back at the office after a long weekend with the Dutchies! We had a brilliant time and it was fantastic to show them around and have them experience Cork and Kerry. We took them up to the Cliffs of Moher, around Cork City on Sunday and to Killarney on Monday; I'll put on some pics later today, but we were very lucky with the weather! While sitting at the shore of the Killarney lakes yesterday, I just thought: 'why isn't this closer to Cork and why isn't Cork closer to Amsterdam'. Era, what can you do? I'll be in Holland in barely three weeks, so looking forward to that!

Heading for Rossini's tonight

Boss' going-away dinner, so we're heading out for a bite and a few drinks; taking it easy, pretty neckard to be honest. It's been a few mad nights in the gym pushing the limits and succeeding. All good so, but need to stand still for just a moment to recover. Dee is happy out, working hard at her temping job in Castlemartyr and studying for the upcoming exams.

I've got some Dutchies coming over for the weekend so I can't wait to show them around town. Be good!

My poor bicycle!

I am in mourning! My much appreciated bicycle is a cripled! I got out to Ballygarvan yesterday afternoon and the rear wheel is just out of line, so have to get that fixed; it ain't funny going down airport hill with reduced breaking power. So, that means, the gym again for this week! We did a massive Spring Clean on Saturday as it was badly needed! It's all looking lovely again with plants and a doormat outside welcoming anybody visiting. So there ye go, the door is open! Housewarming somewhere around the end of May.

Law, Law and more Law

Yeah, nothing strange happening this week; It's just Law, Law and more Law for Deedee and the gym for /me. A quick low-carb meal and an episode of Sex and the City on DVD later it's already time to go to bed, so yeah; no news really.

Good Friday? Bad hangover!

I wrote about Good Friday being a day for reconcilliation with pubs and off-licenses being closed for the day; Well, Thursday evening was mayhem! People were buying slabs of beer as if all the Heineken and Carlsberg' factories had been shut overnight and this was going to be the last supply ever!

And yeah, the above image shows the situation at our local Tesco. No alcohol on Good Friday; by Government's orders. They'd nearly put a security guard there to ensure nobody would sneak through the fency to get their few cans of Dutch Gold lager!

A few quiet days later

It has been nearly 10 days since I last posted a message, and it has been lovely to have some days to wind down, relax and just enjoy myself. We spent some time in Kerry which allowed Dee to prepare for the Law exams while I enjoyed some mad walks in the countryside.

The weather could have been better, but the craic was mighty and it was lovely to be away from the city.
