All that Jazz!

Well, it's the October Bank Holiday weekend and that means it's the Guinness Jazz Festival! To be quite frankly honest, it's something that you normally try to avoid as it gets so cramped with Dubs coming down to Cork that it has become a bit too mad alltogether, but this year we just couldn't avoid seeing Carmina. They're a Bristol-based group playing fantastich folk / jazzy / traddy stuff... absolutely fantastic! We've seen them years ago when they recorded their CD 'On A Quiet Street' (listen to Legal Eagle's "whoohoo" at the end of 'Crazy Love') in The Meeting Place in Midleton and we hadn't had a chance to go out and see them again until yesterday afternoon.

So yeah, we had a lovely afternoon surrounded by a very enthusiastic crowd of about 40 punters that came out to see a 7-piece band playing absolutely wonderful music. Dad was over for the weekend as well and he thoroughly enjoyed it as far as I could tell.

We had a lovely time as well celebrating Haloween at Legal Eagle's place. Everybody made a huge effort in getting dressed up and getting the place transformed into Haloween style. Needless to say, the parents got a big surprise when they came back from their dinner date. Will post pictures soon!

Stemmen in het buitenland!

Weinig Nederlanders in buitenland gaan stemmen

Let's see if there's any flooding in the city centre later tonight.

A long time no blogging

It has been a long, long time since I last posted something on this blog. I better revive it cos it looks like I have been out in the middle of Botswana without connectivity or anything.

Well, it's been actual fairly quiet... what happened in those couple of weeks?

- I've become an uncle again of a little baby girl named 'Nynke', so yeah, that's pretty cool.
- Legal Eagle is doing her exams for Blackhall so the house has turned into a library once again
- I failed my driving test. Not that I expected to pass it, but still it's annoying when people are double parking or doing erratic things in front of you. Era sure, I've got my 2nd provisional license now, so I can just drive around without any supervision from a licensed driver.

So there you go, there's been an update again. I'll be hoping to get the new phoneline installed at home over the next couple of weeks. The line has been ordered but I'm still waiting for the engineer to give us a call to organise the installation. Shortly afterwards we can do the line check and order the broadband connectivity. It will all come, it just takes bloody ages.

Ah well, we've been without a phoneline / broadband connection since we left Amsterdam, so those last few weeks don't matter really now, do they?
