34 All Irelands!

It's been a while since my last posting and that's basically cause it's been hectic! I've finished painting the hallway last Wednesday nite to ensure the place was ready for our visitors. We had Val staying on Thursday nite and on Friday nite my mum flew in from Amsterdam. We had a lovely time with a few bevvies in An Spailpín Fánach and went down to Kerry on the Saturday. A few unplanned stops later we arrived in Kerry just in time to set up the gourmet indoor grill thingy. It's a fine thing if you're having a group over for dinner. Everybody is basically grilling their own meats and veggies while sipping away on the wine and having plenty of time to chat and chat and chat and chat. You can guess the score.

Sunday was a great day. Not only because we had lovely weather again and I was able to drive mum around the parish, but also because the boys in green and gold got their 34th All Ireland Gaelic Football title! It wasn't a good match at all, it was more a practice session with poor old Mayo being humiliated, but what can you do?

We didn't expect this to happen after the disastrous matches we went to see in Fitzgerald Stadium and Pairc Ui Caoimh. Well done to the Kingdom!

The city is on fire!

Fire fighters bid to contain Cork quay fire

19 September 2006 08:09
Fire fighters are working to contain a blaze at a disused grain mill on Cork's quayside.

Gardaí say the blaze broke out shortly before 7am this morning at the R & H Hall building on Kennedy Quay.

Several units of the fire brigade are currently working at the scene where the building is understood to have sustained extensive damage.

There are no reports of injuries.

I was wondering like what whas happening out there! I couldn't really see in my rear view mirror and I wasn't that awake yet! Interestingly enough, all telecoms transmission stations are on top of the R&H! That's gonna be a lot of people out of mobile and broadband connectivity.... ooops!

Driving to work!

It has finally happened; I've had plenty of practice so when it was lashing rain yesterday morning I just couldn't be bothered to walk to the bus stop getting soaking wet. So yeah, I took the car and just drove to work. Same thing this morning! Yippie!

What else is new? Well, we've got our new bed and it's sleeps so well! After sleeping on an airbed for over a week, you just can't imagine how comfy it is!

Other stuff? We're coming over to Amsterdam again for the weekend of 20-22 October. Looking forward to it!

No other plans really... painting the main hallway entrance at the moment and as I checked it this morning, it needs a second coat. Damn! I'd hoped it would have been ready!

Thank God I don't have to take the train anymore

Service Disruption- Lightning Unofficial Industrial Action in Cork

Due to lightning unofficial industrial action by a small number of track maintenance staff in Cork, services to and from Kent Station, Cork and services on the Cork-Cobh route are currently disrupted until further notice.

October 4th, D Day!

The letter I'd been dreading for quite a while arrived yesterday; October 4th at 9.15AM, I have to do my driving test in Skibbereen! It's still four weeks away so I better get cracking at the reversing around the corner, parking and the three-point turn. Era sure, we'll see how it goes.

Better stop painting and start practice!

Rebels, rebels, no three in a row!

Damned!

Well, they didn't deserve it the way they played anyway! We had a lovely weekend anyway! Not much happening anyway, it's still painting, and more painting.... tonight I'll finish it, promise!!

Rodeo Drive is gorgeous!

My arms are sore; After a day of typing I took up the paintbrush and started painting the bedroom. It's been a few hours but it's looking great! I need to do all the finishing touches, but all going well it should be ready by Saturday night.

No big plans for the weekend anyway. I need to get to the recycling centre to get rid of the empty paint cans and some other bits and pieces. There's a night out planned with all the lads at work, so that probably means a big piss up on Saturday nite. Then of course there's the big match on Sunday...

UP THE REBELS!!
