Census 2006

As we haven't really been around during the week or the weekend, we got these notices in the letter box in regards to the Census and that somebody had called to give us the appropriate paperwork.

Well, I filled out the form, but surely as we weren't around, I don't think we are included in this year's Census.

Ah well, doesn't matter anyway. As long as I'm not an Irish citizen I will not get voting rights in national elections, so there isn't much point to submit information to a government that I have no influence on anyway.

Multi-tasking

Legal Eagle had some audiotapes made with notes for the upcoming exams, so we went for a big walk around the bay. Herself listening to legal stuff on the walkman, while I enjoyed some tunes on the mp3 player.

Funderland!

As we were not supposed to eat meat or drink alcohol (and as such with bars closed) on Good Friday, we had to find enjoyment one way or another. So, we relived our teenage years at Funderland and we had a ball!

And instead of paying EUR 8 for one of those 'actionshots' - ye might as well take a photo of the monitor displaying your picture.

The American World

It's an old one but I only got it re-send to me recently.

Which airline?

A guy sitting at a bar at Heathrow Terminal 3 noticed a really beautiful woman sitting next to him.

He thought to himself: "Wow, she's so gorgeous she must be a flight attendant. But which airline does she work for?"

Hoping to pick her up, he leaned towards her and uttered the Delta slogan: "Love to fly and it shows?"

She gave him a blank, confused stare and he immediately thought to himself: "Damn, she doesn't work for Delta."

A moment later, another slogan popped into his head. He leaned towards her again, "Something special in the air?"

She gave him the same confused look. He mentally kicked himself, and scratched Singapore Airlines off the list.

Next he tried the Thai Airways slogan: "Smooth as Silk."

This time the woman turned on him "What the F*** do you want?"

The man smiled, then slumped back in his chair, and said "Ahhhhh, Ryanair!"

New toy!

Today I received a new phone with many thanks to O2.

Is it any better than my Nokia? Not at all I'm afraid, but this one charges via USB and that saves bringing an extra charger while out travelling.

Time we went Dutch?

As found in the 'Letters to the Editor' section of last Friday's Irish Independent.

At least somebody appreciates it, cos the Dutch generally don't.

Photos of Warsaw

The old palace

As Pope John Paul's anniversary had just occured, there were plenty of tributes around the town.

The market square of the old town; flattened during WWII, but rebuild during the early '50s.

Colourful houses

The old town in the distance

Another tribute to Pope John Paul

The old town in the background

Can't remember what this church was about

Typical Russian-style architecture; The Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Moscow looks pretty much the same!

Oh yeah, there are still gunshot holes to be seen in some of Warsaw's buildings.

Solicitor training school for Cork announced!

Trainee solicitors will be able to learn their profession outside the capital for the first time when a new law school starts operations in Cork at the end of the year.

The move is in response to the growing number of people training to be solicitors. Numbers increased by 83 per cent in the past three years, according to Ken Murphy director general of the Law Society.

"We're responding to demand because there is an increase in the numbers who every year want to become solicitors," Mr Murphy told RTE radio.

A premises for the new school has already been identified and advertisements for staff will be published in the press this week.

Facilities at University College Cork will be available to the trainee solicitors.

Currently, all solicitors undergo training at the Law Society's premises at Blackhall Place, Dublin.

The announcement was made today at the Courthouse in Cork where President of the Society Michael Irvine said up to 150 trainees can be accommodated at the new school.

"This is a very historic day for the Law Society. It is the first time in our history that we have planned to offer our training courses outside Dublin," Mr Irvine said.

So that basically means that Legal Eagle does not have to go to Dublin for 6 months after finishing her Law Degree at UCC! Brilliant!

Current offer EUR 263,000 !

It's madness, another 7k and the value of the apartment has doubled! In 18 months! Well, I don't think we'll be selling off just yet; A car is more important at the moment, so I'm looking out for a cheapy Japanese model; If you have something available, and NCTed, then give me a shout!

Warsaw

Well, it was an early start with a 07.50 flight from Heathrow's Terminal 1, but I got here safe and sound. Everything going exactly to plan, so we had some time to walk around the old town this afternoon.

I didn't bring my USB cable, so for now it is just an image found via Google Images

Wanted!

I can't seem to find it anywhere; I'm looking for a jumper / sweater with a print of 'University of Tuktuyuktuk' - where the f##k is that, you may ask? It's the most northern town in Canada! And no, there is no actual University there. Just a lot of ice!
