/me wearing glasses

I promised ye a picture of me wearing my glasses. Well, I hardly wear them I must admit, hence I'm never in the country, but over the next few weeks I should be around so I'll be on the road and wearing my glasses.

I'll be off in a minute to enjoy a well-deserved break. It's gonna be Cork-Kerry-Cork-Dublin-Amsterdam-Rotterdam-Dublin-Cork; as usual, too many flights! Speaking about flights, I just checked my pile of boarding cards.... only 24 flights in the last quarter, that's not too bad!

I've got 20,000 BA miles, I need 100,000 to get a free return flight to Sydney. That's a good enough New Year's resolution!

Happy Christmas!

Google Images - Lagos

The traffic wasn't that bad when I was around, but it gives you a good idea on what it's like out there.

Back in town!

Well, it's been one hell of a journey, but I'm back in Cork.

In the last 10 days I've travelled Cork-Heathrow-Lagos-Heathrow-Amsterdam-Riga-Heathrow-Cork.

So yeah, it's good to be back home!

I didn't dare to get out of my 'Corps Diplomatique' transporter in Lagos, Nigeria, but I did take some pics with the camera phone... I'll put them up after the Christmas holidays.

The picture below is the view over Riga, Latvia taken from the 26th floor of our hotel. A lovely place I must say!!

And more importantly, Legal Eagle received her Diploma in Legal Studies in the post yesterday. So we better get that framed and look forward to see the next piece of paperwork, the actual Degree!

Only working a half day tomorrow and then it's time for a well-deserved break!

Happy Christmas!

Hot and sunny Lagos

So here I am.... in the roasting hot temperatures of Nigeria in West Africa; It's only 30 degrees as it's December, I wonder how it would be here in August.... crazy!

Anyway, the flight to Heathrow leaves on Thursday evening, so until then I better stay indoors (that's advisable to do for foreigners anyway) and get close to the airconditioning.

Pssssssst!

View from my hotel room

Well, this is the view from the hotel room; a big Turkish flag painted on the mountain and a UN security checkpoint just 400 yards from the hotel.

Evening prayer in Cyprus

It's just after 18.00 and the main evening prayer just started here in Cyprus; As this island is devided in a Greek and a Turkish part I can hear the prayers from the mosque 2km away in the Turkish part.

We had a lovely weekend with a choir concert in St. Finbarr's cathedral as the main highlight. Nothing else exciting I'm afraid, just don't go to the 3rd Harry Potter movie as it's fairly shite!

Flying back to Cork on Wednesday evening so until then I'll enjoy the 21 degrees Celcius!

Needles and injections

As I'm off to Nigeria on Monday week for work I thought I better get my act together and get the vaccinations I required. So yeah, I think I'm okay again against Yellow Fever, Typhoid, Hep A, Polio and Diphteria.
